2008 Vintage - Official Release
Welcome to our second KarriBindi E-News. This E-News marks the official release of our 2008 Sauvignon Blanc and 2008 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc. Our excitement and anticipation over the 2008 vintage has been undoubtedly validated with both the 2008 Sauvignon Blanc and 2008 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc performing extremely well in recent wine shows.
Bronze, Silver, Gold And A TROPHY
Our 2008 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc won a Gold medal and was deemed best of class at the Qantas Wine Show of WA in Mt Barker. It then went on to pick up the trophy for best white blend (any vintage or blends) at the awards night. It also won a Silver medal at the Perth Royal Wine Show, a silver medal at the Blackwood Valley Boutique Wine Show and a Bronze medal at the Australian Small Winemakers Show.

After allowing the 2008 whites to settle in bottle for 3 months, it is a great pleasure to now release these wines knowing that they have performed so well.
Our 2006 Shiraz also picked up its first medal, a Bronze medal at the Blackwood Valley Boutique Wine Show.
You will find all of these medal winning wines on our order form at

James Halliday, arguably Australia's preeminent wine writer and wine judge had this to say in the November 15 Weekend Australian:
"KARRIBINDI is located at Karridale, in the cooler climate southern part of the Margaret River, close to Cape Leeuwin, and was established by Kris Wealand and family in 1997. Its first vintage was in 2005. It is a substantial venture, with 37ha of vines, but only a small part is used for the KarriBindi range (made for KarriBindi by the experienced Bruce Dukes). So far the accent has been on sauvignon blanc and semillon-sauvignon blanc, wines ideally suited to the climate of the area. The trophy-winning 2008 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc (95 points, $15) has exceptionally pure aromas of grass and snowpea, and a bright, incisive palate with a core of minerality that drives the length and persistence of the flavours. As well as the trophy at the Qantas Wine Show of Western Australia, it won a silver medal at the Royal Perth Wine Show earlier this year. "

Peter Forrestal in the October 22 Sunday Times wrote:
"Best White Blend is the 2008 Karribindi Semillon Sauvignon Blanc. It's third release lucky for this Karridale vineyard: aromatic, fresh garden herbs, pea and green-bean flavours with some cool white peach and guava tropical notes, tangy before a dry
, zesty finish."
News From The Vineyard
The season has well and truly started, with all varieties growing strongly and evenly. We have had heavy rainfall over the last two months, filling the dams and the soil; it is only now starting to feel like spring. With the beginning of flowering upon us, we are now into the nurturing phase to ensure that we have the best possible grapes available for the 2009 vintage.

E-News Special
The 2007 Sauvignon Blanc and 2007 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc are both drinking extremely well. They have both matured well in bottle, presenting as crisp and fresh, driven by their true fruit characters. The 2007 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc has picked up another medal this year, a bronze at the 2008 Australian Small Winemakers Show.
The 2006 Shiraz is also a wonderful drop. Deep ruby red with obvious pepper characters on the palate, with a beautiful well rounded finish thanks to the subtle use of only 10% new Oak.
As a special for KarriBindi E-News readers, you can order our 2007 Sauvignon Blanc, 2007 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc and/or our 2006 Shiraz as a mixed or straight case and we will deliver it to your door for free. Just go to our order form and type “E-News” and the quantity of each wine if a mixed case, in the comments box.
