Our aim at KarriBindi is to be known and respected for producing premium quality wine grapes. We have been doing this consistently since the mid 1990’s. Now our objective is to produce limited quantities of premium fine wines. We have been pursuing this with great passion since 2005.
Our winemaker comes with extensive knowledge of and experience with premium wineries, boutique wines, and the grape growing location that is Karridale. He has an intimate knowledge of the grape varieties best suited to this area and shares our desire to produce premium wines that highlight the fruit’s natural characteristics and flavours.
Our viticulturist began his career in the world renowned Yarra Valley wine growing region. He brings a wealth of knowledge and energy to our pursuit and shares our vision and passion to grow premium quality fruit.
KarriBindi produces Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and a spakling Chardonnay Pinot. You can expect to see another couple of varieties joining the KarriBindi range in the future as we work with our viticulturalist and winemaker to identify further styles that best reflect the outstanding qualities of this area.
Many people ask us about our name, KarriBindi. Well…..
Karri is derived from our location of Karridale and the abundant Karri forests surrounding the area.
Bindi is derived from Bindi Bindi, the home town of one member of the KarriBindi family.
We also understand Karri and Bindi to be Nyoongar words in origin:
Karri; meaning strong, special; spiritual; tall tree.
Bindi: meaning butterfly.
You may notice the influence of these Nyoongar meanings in the design of our labels. The KarriBindi butterfly soaring through the Karri trees.
